Cognex Introduces StingRay Attachable Barcode Scanning Accessory for Mobile Devices
New smartphone aiming technology offers faster and easier barcode scanning
Cognex Corporation (NASDAQ: CGNX), the world’s leader in machine vision, today announced the StingRay™ attachable barcode scanning accessory, a patent-pending smartphone attachment that enables faster barcode scanning for light industrial and enterprise applications. The StingRay accessory transforms the built-in flash into an aiming pattern that makes barcode scanning easier for operators while eliminating the need for virtual on-screen aimers.
The StingRay accessory seamlessly integrates with the Cognex® Manatee Works™ Barcode Scanner software development kit (SDK), which supports decoding of more than forty symbologies on all major mobile, desktop and server platforms, including Apple® iOS and Google® Android. This powerful combination of hardware and software enables application developers to implement cleaner and more efficient mobile applications. As a result, mobile devices can replace expensive, traditional mobile computers for light industrial scanning applications.
- Point and scan Heads-up Barcode Scanning™
- Scanning without relying on live-image or virtual on-screen aimers
- Triggered scanning from within apps
- Seamless integration with Manatee Works Barcode Scanner SDK
“The StingRay accessory is a compelling example of the growing trend of mobile device solutions for retail, healthcare, logistics, commercial services and other enterprise applications,” said Carl Gerst, Senior Vice President, ID Products. “This aiming technology, combined with our premier barcode scanner SDK, displaces traditional, purpose-built mobile computers with powerful, optimized smartphones.”
