Cognex Surpasses $10 Million in Bookings for DataMan ID Readers
Natick, MA, November 29, 2007—Cognex Corporation (NASDAQ: CGNX) announced today that it has surpassed $10 million in bookings for its DataMan® ID code readers and verifiers since January 1, 2007.
The Cognex DataMan family of ID code readers was introduced in 2005 to provide best-in-class performance for unit-level traceability applications in manufacturing. Cognex DataMan systems are used to read 2D barcodes, such as Data Matrix codes, which are used in a variety of industries to track, identify and manage assets at every stage during the manufacturing process and throughout an item’s useful life. ID code reading systems also allow for greater customization during production and handling by enabling automation equipment to process each item in a unique way.
“We are very pleased by the healthy growth in demand for Cognex ID products during 2007,” said Dr. Robert J. Shillman, Cognex’s Chairman and CEO. “Bookings for DataMan have increased by more than 60% compared to the same period in 2006. The range of our ID product offering puts Cognex in a strong position to be the major supplier in the growing movement towards item-level traceability not only in manufacturing, but also in many other areas such as material handling and logistics.”
Current customers for DataMan include manufacturers of a wide variety of products including electronic components, automotive components, biotech and pharmaceutical products, document handling equipment, postal sortation machinery and numerous suppliers to the Department of Defense.
