Vision ensures product and packaging quality for cosmetics
Vision-enabled barcode readers with the ease-of-use and cost of laser scanners
An In-Sight® vision system enables Shiseido America to run three similar tube packages on the same line without any confusion. Automated Design Solutions created a system to use eye marks, an identification mark printed on each tube’s seal, to ensure that it is being filled with the correct product. Cognex vision is ensuring that the eye mark on each tube is on the proper production line. In-Sight was particularly helpful in this application because its camera has both digital I/O to exchange logic signals with the PLC and an Ethernet port. The Ethernet provides Shiseido with an immense amount of flexibility. They can retrieve and display inspection images, change system variables stored within the camera, and alter the vision tools used without having to go into the camera software.
