Beverage manufacturers fill bottles rapidly along a conveyor. To ensure customer satisfaction and protect brand reputation, bottles must be filled adequately and uniformly. Measuring and validating the volume of liquid in each bottle must occur in order to reduce scrap and re-work. In a bottling factory, product quality inspections use vision sensors to identify bottles that have been over- or under-filled. Vision sensors which perform pass/fail inspections mount on conveyors and inspect the liquid volume, or fill levels, of bottles as they flow past.
Using the pixel count tool, In-Sight 2D vision systems detect the relative presence or absence of liquid. Underfilled bottles register too few pixels, while overfilled bottles register too many. Bottles which fail the inspection trigger the kick-out function. Identifying improperly filled bottles early in the process reduces the costs associated with end-of-the-line waste and improves the quality of product in the market.
