Process logistics pallets quickly and accurately
Increase efficiency, improve traceability, and reduce manual rework when processing pallets or large packages
Fixed-mount barcode readers solve complex, high-throughput manufacturing and logistics applications with ease.
At the inbound dock door, items are typically received and shipped on pallets. Barcode readers are used as warehouse scanning systems and incoming pallets are scanned as they enter the facility. Codes on pallets are used to route items to their appropriate locations and provide information about the materials on the pallet.
The challenge is that pallets of boxes can contain many barcodes, making it difficult to read them all as they move quickly down a conveyor. Barcodes can be printed on or covered by reflective material, such as tape or plastic. Labels can become damaged or fall off during transport or upon unloading from at the dock door. Handheld readers are not efficient when building pallets since the operator must constantly pick up and put down the scanner. When an operator cannot scan a barcode or needs to manually rework a pallet, this costs the warehouse time and money.
Efficiently Scanning Pallets at the Dock Door
Cognex Pallet Scanning System, using the DataMan 470 with High-Speed Steerable Mirror, scans pallets as easily as boxes. With a large depth-of-field and wide field-of-view, Cognex Pallet Scanning System captures labels on inbound pallets and large packages from short working distances quickly and accurately, even when they are degraded, torn, or covered in plastic wrap. This warehouse scanning system delivers a cost-effective solution that increases a distribution facility’s efficiency and lowers costs with image-based barcode readers with that deliver industry-leading 99.9% read rates.
