Meat Patty Inspection

Ensuring product quality using 3D measurement reduces costs and increases consumer confidence

Challenge:

Inspect the volume, dimensions, and visual quality of the meat before packaging.

Solution:

A DS1000 Series 3D displacement sensor was used to extract the height of the meat patties as they were made. Each meat patty was scanned, then analyzed to make sure the volume of meat was within specification, the meat patty did not have pieces of it missing, as well as a check to make sure they were as close to a circular shape as possible. 3D and 2D vision tools were used to accomplish this once the image was scanned.

Results:

The packager was able to easily identify incorrectly formed meat patties. This allowed them to increase the quality of their products without the need of a manual inspection.
