Multicamera system reads vial labels

Multicamera system reads vial labels

FP Developments is saving money by opting to use multiple area-array cameras rather than a single line scan camera in a system designed for the inspection of drug vials. Several images of the vials are taken and then later stitched together in the OmniViewTM  software. The functions within OmniView such as optical character recognition and verification, data matrix, and pattern recognition are used to read barcodes and alphanumeric data on the label of the vial. This method is both less costly and faster than the alternative of using a line scan camera. The system made by FP Developments can be integrated into existing production lines and run as quickly as 600 parts per minute.
