Vision guided robotics in packaging

Vision guided robotics in packaging

Rexroth demonstrates a delta robot using a Cognex In-Sight® vision system. The robot's task was to arrange the containers in a pattern on one of the conveyors with the logos all in the right direction. In-Sight monitors containers as they pass along on an inbound conveyor, communicating position and orientation data to enable the robot to grab the tin and place it on the outbound belt with all the logos facing the right direction. Vision Guided Robotics (VGR) is utilized on lines like Rexroth’s because of its ability to process various part types and locate unfixtured parts, which is key for eliminating costly precision fixturing. Non–linear calibration software and PatMax® object location software improves accuracy and repeatability in VGR applications.
